Iva Kontic

Iva Kontic (b. Belgrade, 1982) graduated in Painting from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milan, and got her MA degree in Fine Arts from Goldsmiths College, London. She obtained her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Arts from University of Arts in Belgrade, under the mentorship of Zoran Todorovic. Her doctoral art research project, “AGIT-PROP-FLASH-MOB” is to be published by ProArtOrg in 2017. Iva exhibited in over seventy group and solo exhibitions, art and film festivals (Kassel Documentary Film Fesitval, European Media Art Festival, MADATAC, CologneOFF, QUEST EUROPE, EspacioEnter, Mikser Festival, etc), in institutions like: Museo Reina Sofia, Fondazione Sandreto Re Rebaudengo, Fondazione Cini, Villa Manin, CCA Centre of Contemporary Art Tibilisi, TEA Tenerife, FICA Foundation, Museo della Permanente, among others. Iva won and was nominated for several international awards (The CAC Trust Special Project Award, Italian Factory Prize, The School of Happiness Award - Vienna Fair, Premio Cairo, Le Cité des Curiosités, etc). She took part in various residential programs, workshops and conferences, such as: IAS Summer School of Political Dissent at The University of Warwick, Prime Time Nationalism at Open Society Archives, VISIO at Lo Schermo dell’Arte Film Festival, The Woodmill Project, Collaboration_7 at Maximilians Forum, where her project was awarded with the grant by the Serbian Ministry of and Culture and Kulturreferat Munich. Iva also curated Festival of Serbian Cinema (Madrid, 2014), supported by the Serbian Ministry of Culture. From 2016, Iva has been appointed the coordinator at the Master in Video Art and Filmmaking at the ARD&NT Institute in Milan, the joint educational project by Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and Politecnico di Milano.
