An award winning journalist with a passion for Africa, young people, innovation and storytelling. Karen is a Common Wealth Scholar at the University of Warwick currently pursuing an MSC in Humanitarian Engineering with Management. In her spare time you can find her drinking a cup of tea, binging on the latest series, researching fashion trends or listening to afro beats. Sometimes she likes to go to the gym, sometimes she doesn't. ---------------- Ellie Beckett won the Writing Wrongs Schools Competition 2022 for her story on free school meals stigma, child food poverty and the impact of COVID-19 and the cost-of-living crisis. She hopes to go on to study English and French at University. You can find her buying and reading books in her spare time, which she realises are two completely different hobbies!
