Naana Otoo-Oyortey
Naana Otoo-Oyortey MBE is the Executive Director of FORWARD, the lead organisation in the UK tackling female genital mutilation. She provides expert advice to the UK government on women and girls and the European Parliament on FGM and has over 30 years’ experience on gender and women’s human rights. Naana previously worked with the International Planned Parenthood Federation and Commonwealth Secretariat. She has been instrumental on work on child marriage and champions rights of African girls and young women in rural and urban poor communities. She holds an MPhil in Development Studies from Sussex University and was honoured for women’s human rights by the Queen in 2009. Naana was also listed in The Power 1000 of London’s most influential people in 2013 and 2014. She is a board member of ACORD and President of the Board of the End FGM European Network, based in Brussels.
