Next week Lacuna will be launching its second theme: Austerity/Prosperity.
By way of an introduction, our writer in residence, Rebecca Omonira-Oyekanmi, has been investigating the impact of poverty on some Londoners today. With illustrations by award winning artist, Patrick Koduah, Rebecca writes about the plight of those struggling to survive on the lowest of wages, living in the worst of conditions.
Uncovering the impact of economic hardship will be an important part of our coverage over the next couple of months. But we also intend to examine different visions of what prosperity might look like and what it might take to achieve. So, with reflections on the implications of cuts to welfare services and to legal aid, we’ll also think about the alternatives to those solutions that dominate the national and, seemingly, international political agenda.
